PEMU-Palawan conducts water sampling at 52 sampling stations in El Nido
The Provincial Environmental Management Unit of Palawan conducted a series of water sampling activities in 52 stations located around Bacuit Bay, El Nido Bay, and El Nido Estero in El Nido, Palawan on November 17-18.
Part of the 52 sampling stations visited by several PEMU-Palawan personnel include around 20 tourist island destinations in El Nido.
Senior Environmental Management Specialist (EMS) Ma. Teresa Riziel Caya led the team composed of EMS II Oliver Barrientos, EMS I Nicaith Trisha Enrile, Environmental Monitoring Officer Peter Abobot, Laboratory Staff Robbin Lisondra, and administrative staff Isabelo Conde in the sampling activities.
The Environment Management Bureau MIMAROPA Region is mandated under the Republic Act 9275, otherwise known as the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004, to inspect and monitor the water quality in its area of jurisdiction through water sampling and analysis.
The said sampling activities were held in coordination with and support from the local government unit of El Nido, led by Municipal Mayor Edna Gacot Lim.
