The Provincial Environmental Management Unit (PEMU) of Palawan conducted a series of water sampling activities to various areas in the province on February 3-4.
Among the areas where the water samplings are conducted include the surrounding waters of Bacuit Bay, including 20 tourist island destinations in El Nido and El Nido Estero.
Senior Environmental Management Specialist (Senior EMS) Ma. Teresa Riziel Caya led the team composed of EMS II Oliver Barrientos, Chemist Robbin Rebecca Lisondra, Environmental Monitoring Officer Peter G. Abobot, and Administrative Staff Isabelo Conde in the sampling activities held on February 3.
On February 4, Caya, Barrientos, and Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) personnel Steven John Andao conducted a sampling activity in the rivers of Barotuan and Taberna in El Nido, Palawan as part of the Environmental Management Bureau’s Waterbody Classification Program target for Calendar Year 2021.
The EMB MIMAROPA Region is mandated under the Republic Act 9275, otherwise known as the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004, to inspect and monitor the water quality in its area of jurisdiction through water sampling and analysis.
