The Environmental Management Services (EMS)–Romblon conducted a series of water sampling activities in the surrounding waters of San Jose and Looc Bay in Romblon on February 16-17.

EMS Romblon Chief Irwin Anzaldo led the sampling activity in the surrounding waters of San Jose, Romblon, accompanied by Engr. Willsone Ray Añoso and Environmental Monitoring Officers (EnMOs) Jose Marie Fabito and Florand Valencia on February 16.

On February 17, Engineer Añoso, Fabito, and Valencia collected water samples in Looc Bay, Romblon.

The said sampling activities were held in coordination with Environmental Management Specialist I of San Jose, Romblon Mr. Joven Selosa, with assistance from the Bantay Dagat of Looc Fish Sanctuary in Looc Romblon.

This follows EMB’s mandate under Republic Act 9275, otherwise known as the Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004. The water sampling is regularly conducted every first and third week of each month to monitor the water quality in the area and determine if it meets the prescribed water quality standards set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
