PEMU conducts inspection of 2 SLFs in Oriental Mindoro

The Provincial Environmental Management Unit (PEMU) of Oriental Mindoro conducted inspection of Sanitary Landfill Facilities (SLFs) in two municipalities last Friday, September 25.

PEMU-Oriental Mindoro Chief Ederlita Labre, together with Environmental Management Specialist II Adz Hazen Dimapilis and Environmental Monitoring Officer Airene Manalo, visited the SLFs of the Municipality of Gloria located in Brgy. Agos, Gloria, and of the Municipality of Pinamalayan located at Brgy. Manicol, Pinamalayan.

The said activities were conducted in the coordination with Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) Ma. Theresa T. Valera and MENRO Staff Ma. Glenda Fe Mejico of Gloria, and MENRO Focal Rubi Lyn Z. Santos of Pinamalayan.

The inspections were done to monitor the compliance of the local government units in MIMAROPA to the environmental laws, specifically on P.D 1586 (The Philippine Environmental Impact Statement System), R.A. 9275 (The Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004), R.A. 8749 (The Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999), R.A. 6969 (Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Waste Control Act of 1990), and R.A 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000) that are being implemented by the DENR-Environmental Management Bureau.
