EMB MIMAROPA Region launched its third episode of its livestream Program – Tinig Kalikasan! During the airing of Tinig Kalikasan on 28 October 2022, this Office joined the global community in celebrating the International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, which was held on 23-29 October 2022.

The livestream discussed the health impacts and prevention measures of lead metal with its guest speaker, Nurse Jhoanne Macam, from the Environmental and Occupational Health Cluster of the Department of Health MIMAROPA Region.

The week-long celebration aimed to raise awareness and consciousness on the health impacts of lead exposure, highlighting the efforts of countries and partners to prevent lead exposure, especially in children; and urge further action to phase out the use of lead in paint.

During the livestream, Nurse Jhoanne Macam, pointed out the existing policies and programs of the Department of Health to ban lead paint and other products with lead content.

“Our message from DOH MIMAROPA is to promote the basic human right which is right to health for all Filipino; protect workers from any hazards and risks; and provide access to specialty toxicology referral facilities. And lastly, always be vigilant, be alert on possible hazard and risk on the environment,” said Nurse Macam.
